Lina Getachew Ayenew
Lina Getachew Ayenew is an independent consultant focused on China-Africa policy and market research.
After receiving her undergraduate and master’s degrees from Yale University, she moved to China to teach at the prestigious Xiangya Medical School through the Yale-China Teaching Fellowship. Following a corporate stint in Beijing, she began her efforts to closely study the influence of the Asian giant in her homeland, Ethiopia. She has also worked with the Ethiopian Tourism Organization (a government entity) to define Ethiopia’s tourism brand and promote it in China.
Most recently, Lina launched the rst course in the world (book + audio) that teaches introductory Mandarin to Amharic speakers. Amharic is the oficial language of Ethiopia. The course is called “Dalu: Introduction to Chinese to Amharic Speakers” and you can learn more about it on www.chineseforethiopia.com.
Lina is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Yale-China Association. Founded in 1901 by graduates of Yale University, the Yale-China Association fosters long-term relationships that improve education, health, and cultural understanding in China and the United States.
Lina is a native speaker of Amharic and English, fluent in French and highly pro client in Mandarin Chinese and Spanish.
